November 16, 2015

SENATOR DON HUFFINES, LOCAL LEADERS, ENDORSE
REP. MATT RINALDI FOR RE-ELECTION

Irving, TX— State Rep. Matt Rinaldi today announced the endorsement of State Senator Don Huffines and an impressive list of local leaders in his bid for re-election.  Sen. Huffines is widely considered to be one of the most conservative Senators in Texas andrepresents the 16th Senate District, which includes all of Rinaldi’s House District 115.

Sen. Huffines made the following statement in support of Rep. Rinaldi’s re-election:

Matt Rinaldi made his mark in Austin as a fearless conservative leader who never shied away from an opportunity to fight for his principles. It is refreshing that, unlike so many elected officials in office, Matt actually kept his word by staying true to the core principles on which he campaigned. He gained tremendous respect from conservatives in both the House and Senate for his intellect and ability to articulate the case for smaller government, lower taxes, secure borders, second amendment rights, and protection of the unborn.  I enthusiastically endorse Matt Rinaldi for re-election and look forward to serving with him next legislative session.

Rep. Rinaldi thanked Sen. Huffines for his endorsement and vowed to continue their work together on conservative legislation. “I’m honored to have the endorsement of such a courageous and respected conservative as Sen. Huffines,” Rinaldi said. “I look forward to continuing to fight side-by-side with him during the next legislative session.”

Adding to the long list of current local officials supporting Rep. Rinaldi, the Rinaldi campaign also announced the backing of former mayors Tim O’Hare and Bill Glancy of Farmers Branch, Ron Branson of Carrollton, and Marvin Randle of Irving, as well as former city councilors Michelle Holmes and David Koch of Farmers Branch, Lisa Sutter, Charles W. Thrasher, and Terry Simons of Carrollton, and Joyce Pittman andTom Spink of Irving.

Rinaldi is a strong advocate for limited government, pro-liberty and free market policies, secure borders, education, Second Amendment rights, and the protection of life.  A 2015 Rice University study of over 1,000 record votes ranked him as the #1 most conservative legislator in the 150-member Texas House.  He was also the highest-ranked legislator in 2015 by several statewide conservative groups, including Texas Eagle Forum and Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.  For his work in defending life, he received the “Pro-Life Freshman of the 84th Session” award by Texas Right to Life
